Hulk Hogan revealed that the reason for his black eye was a jet ski accident.

WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan appeared at WrestleMania 9 with a black eye. He paired up with Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake at the premium live event in Las Vegas in 1993 to clash against Money Inc.’s Ted Dibiase and Irwin R. Schyster for the Tag Team Titles. Hogan ended up on the losing side. The match lasted only 20 minutes, with Money Inc. retaining the championships with a win via disqualification. Hogan participated in the bout with a black spot around his left eye.

The creative team of WWE said that the injury was caused by Money Inc. at the mega event. But Hogan, during a recent interview, claimed the reason for his black eye to be a jet ski accident. Some fans, however, believed that “The Immortal One” engaged in a backstage fight with Macho Man” Randy Savage, who served as the announcer at WrestleMania 9.

In the new Peacock documentary, WrestleMania IX: Becoming A Spectacle, WWE Hall of Famer Scott Steiner also claimed that Savage was responsible for Hogan’s black eye.

“I guess he bought the story Randy told him. I never fought with Randy. If they still want to believe it after we tell them what happened, fine with me,” Hogan said on the documentary, referring to Steiner’s comments. He then went on to describe his side of the story.

“Brutus came over and I was riding a Sea-Doo. I got on it and where we were jumping waves, I didn’t know my thumb had pushed the button that made the nose stay down. As soon as I took off, this thing was like a rocket ship. You got 75-80 miles per hour. I hit that first big swell and I went up,” Hogan said about his injury.

“It threw me over the front of the ski, and when I hit the water, I tried to cover (and go under the water) because I knew the ski was coming at me, but my lifejacket pulled me back up, and the 700-pound ski hit me in the face and knocked me out. I was knocked out face down in the water,” he explained further.

WWE Hall of Famer Brutus Beefcake, who was also part of the trio, verified the story, saying, “He was flying in the air and the ski did a 360. The front of the ski hit him in his orbital and fractured it. He was almost not quite unconscious but pretty much out of it.”

After losing the Tag Team match to Money Inc., Hogan challenged Yokozuna for the WWF Championship at WrestleMania 9 and won the singles fight in just 22 seconds.
