The 7-seater Bigster will make its global debut sometime next year in India and will have several commonalities with the latest global Duster

The upcoming seven-seater Dacia Bigster has been spotted testing again on foreign soil and as expected, it takes plenty of design inspiration from the latest Duster. The SUV will be marketed by Renault as well as Dacia and the spy images of the near-production prototype give away plenty of details despite wearing heavy camouflage all around.

The shape of the headlamps and tail lamps, front grille, squared-off fenders, rear quarter finish and the kink behind the C-pillar remain similar to the existing Duster. It will have a longer wheelbase and a longer rear overhang to accommodate the third-row seating arrangement which will enhance its practicality and appeal to a wide range of family-based consumers.

The trunk lid has a new design and the numberplate holder looks slightly different compared to the Duster. The cabin will likely feature the same 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment screen with connectivity options and a seven-inch digital instrument cluster while the controls and knobs will also be shared with the Duster but expect more premium equipment to be available.

Since the Bigster will have larger proportions and weigh heavier, we can expect one of the engines to gain more power and torque and the top-spec trims will come with an AWD system. In Europe, the Bigster will be sold under the Dacia badge while Renault will sell the Bigster elsewhere, possibly including India as a seven-seater SUV appears to have been planned.

For Europe, it will be manufactured at the Mioveni plant in Romania and its world debut will happen sometime in 2025. The familiar CMF-B architecture, which has been utilised by several models within the Renault Group, will also underpin the bigger Bigster while the powertrains and transmissions will also be shared.

Currently, the global Duster is equipped with a 1.0L TCe 100 engine that runs on petrol/LPG producing 100 PS while the Duster TCe 130 comes with a 1.2L turbo petrol with 48V mild-hybrid tech boasting 130 PS. The 1.6L hybrid mill featuring two electric motors in the Hybrid 140 trim kicks out 140 PS.
