The top 10 compact SUV sales charts in May 2024 witnessed Tata Punch finishing ahead of Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Fronx
In May 2024, the Tata Punch topped the compact SUV sales charts, recording 18,949 units sold, a significant rise from the 11,124 units sold in May 2023. This appreciable performance reflected a 70 per cent year-on-year sales increase, reinforcing the Punch’s position as the best-selling SUV in India yet again.
Close behind, the Brezza compact SUV secured the second position with 14,186 units sold, reflecting a 6 per cent year-on-year increase from 13,398 units. The Maruti Suzuki Fronx ranked as the third best-selling compact SUV in the country last month, with 12,681 units sold, up from 9,863 units, achieving a year-on-year growth of 29 per cent.
The Tata Nexon secured the fourth spot with 11,457 units sold, a decline from the 14,423 units sold in the same period last year, resulting in a 21 per cent decrease in year-on-year volume. Meanwhile, customer deliveries of the Mahindra XUV 3OO began last month, and its dispatches have already reached the 10,000-unit mark.

Notably, the XUV 3OO received over 50,000 bookings within an hour on its first official reservation day and 1,500 units were delivered on the very first delivery day. This marks a significant year-on-year growth of 95 per cent compared to the 5,125 units of the XUV 300 sold during the same period last year. The Hyundai Venue secured the sixth spot with 9,327 units sold, down from 10,213 units, reflecting a 9 per cent year-on-year decline.
The Hyundai Exter finished seventh with 7,697 units sold. The Kia Sonet was the eighth most sold compact SUV in India last month as 7,433 units were registered against 8,251 units during the corresponding period twelve months ago with a YoY drop of 10 per cent. The Mahindra Thar and Nissan Magnite covered ninth and tenth respectively.
The lifestyle off-road SUV posted 5,750 units as against 4,296 units with a YoY growth of 34 per cent while the Magnite recorded 2,211 units against 2,618 units with a YoY decline of 16 per cent in the domestic market.
