Tata Motors sold a total of 46,700 units in the month of May 2024; The Punch stood at the top spot followed by the Nexon
Tata Motors has been quite proactive in launching new products in the Indian market and the Altroz Racer is the latest addition to its portfolio. The Indian carmaker finished the month of May 2024 by selling 46,700 units, thereby acquiring the third spot in the domestic sales. This accounts for a marginal increase from the previous year’s figures of 45,880 units, registering a YOY growth of just 2 per cent.
The MOM analysis reveals a 2% decline as the company sold 47,885 units in April 2024. Talking about the model-wise sales, the Punch continues to be the Indian carmaker’s top performer with 18,949 units in the bag, registering a staggering 70 per cent YOY growth.
In addition to this, the Punch also became the 2nd best-selling car in the passenger vehicle segment in India, standing a notch behind the new-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift. The popular compact SUV Nexon’s sales bar stood at 11,457 units, a 21 per cent decline from the previous year. On the other hand, Nexon gained by 3 per cent in the MOM comparison.

Trailing behind these high-volume pullers are the Tiago and Altroz with 5,927 and 4,983 units, respectively. Both the hatchbacks registered a YOY sales decline of 27 per cent and 8 per cent, respectively. Tata’s flagship SUVs, the Harrier and Safari’s performed decently well last month.
The Safari posted a sales number of 1,661 units while the Harrier’s figures stood at 1,625 units. The former registered a 6 per cent YOY decline while the latter’s YOY sales dipped by a massive 29 per cent. Last but not least, the Tigor sedan sold 2,098 units in May 2024 and the YOY graph plummeted with a 22 per cent decline.
To conclude, the Punch is the only gainer in the Tata Motor’s entire line-up in the YOY analysis while the Harrier’s sales declined the most. Every model except Nexon experienced a MOM decline in sales in May 2024.
