Kia Clavis will likely make its global debut before the end of this year in its ICE guise before the arrival of the electric variant

Kia currently sells the well received Sonet in the highly competitive compact SUV in India and it will be accompanied by a brand new model internally codenamed AY. The five-seater will go by the name Clavis and it has been spotted testing multiple times in South Korea ahead of its likely global debut before the end of this year.

The Kia Clavis is expected to go on sale in India in early 2025 and it will be positioned above the Sonet and below the Seltos midsize SUV, which gained a mid-life update last year. The sub-four-metre SUV will be distinctively different compared to the Sonet and the spy images suggest the same as it takes plenty of inspiration from the Kia Soul.

It has a tall stature with upright design elements in a similar fashion to traditional SUVs. It will also boast aggressive side body cladding and bold looking bumpers with wide air intakes. It appears to be influenced by the styling of the flagship Telluride, judging by the upright front end and rectangular LED headlamps as well as boxy tail lamps connected by a light bar.

The spy picture show the presence of tall pillars, sturdy roof rails and slightly dipping roofline that should free up plenty of room on the inside. It also looks to have a long wheelbase, high ground clearance and a spacious boot. Just as every other Kia model, it will be packed with features and technologies inside the cabin.

The equipment list will likely comprise six airbags as standard, a large touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, automatic climate control, an all-digital instrument console, ambient lighting, ventilated driver and front passenger seats, an electric sunroof, a 360-degree camera system and much more.

The Kia Clavis will boast a versatile powertrain lineup as petrol, hybrid and electric versions will be offered. The ICE variant will arrive first before the debut of the electrified model sometime in late 2025, and both are expected to be offered in India.
