BMW Motorrad India will officially launch the CE 04 electric scooter in the domestic market on July 24, 2024. It could carry a price tag of around Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom) and the customer deliveries are expected to commence soon after its price announcement. The BMW CE 04 is locally produced at TVS Motor Company’s production facility in Tamil Nadu.

Since earlier this year, it has been exported to several international markets from Hosur. On the same date, BMW is also planning to launch the recently showcased 5 Series LWB and it will lock horns with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class long wheelbase version. Previously, BMW showcased the CE 04 in India as well and its launch speculations have always existed, only to be officially confirmed today.

Besides its hefty price tag, what really makes it stand out is the futuristic design philosophy. The BMW CE 04 is equipped with a 15 kW permanent magnet, liquid-cooled synchronous electric motor, generating a maximum power output of 41 bhp and 61 Nm of peak torque. Its battery has a capacity of 8.9 kWh, allowing for a claimed riding range of 130 km on a single charge.

When the battery is depleted, it can be fully recharged in just over four hours using a regular charger. With the optional quick charger, the BMW CE 04’s battery can be fully recharged in just an hour and forty minutes. BMW claims the CE 04 can accelerate from 0 to 50 kmph in 2.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 120 kmph making it a capable performer.

It is also packed with features such as a 10.25-inch TFT touchscreen display with navigation, a USB Type-C charger, three ride modes, 15-inch wheels, dynamic traction control and ABS pro as an option, etc. It is underpinned by a steel double-loop frame and the braking duties are performed by a 265 mm front disc and a 265 mm rear disc, assisted by ABS as standard fitment.

The suspension hardware includes a single-bridge telescopic fork up front and a single-sided swingarm with a directly hinged suspension strut at the back. It won’t have any direct rival upon launch in India.
