Bajaj Auto, RE, KTM and Triumph are set to introduce new 400 cc motorcycles in India. Here, we provide an overview of these upcoming models

Motorcycle manufacturers such as Bajaj Auto, KTM, Royal Enfield and Triumph are expected to launch new 400 cc motorcycles in the domestic market. Some of these models have already been spotted testing both in India and internationally. Bajaj Auto recently launched the Pulsar NS400 Z, and the company may soon expand its 400 cc Pulsar lineup.

One potential addition could be a fully-faired 400 cc version of the RS 200, which might become the flagship Pulsar model, likely priced around Rs. 2 lakh (ex-showroom). Additionally, Bajaj might introduce an adventure tourer or a semi-faired variant. While these possibilities are exciting, there has been no official confirmation yet.

However, what has already been confirmed is the new Dominar 400 which is expected to launch in the near future with comprehensive updates. Triumph has experienced significant success with the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X. To broaden this popular range, the British brand plans to introduce a new semi-faired variant, potentially named the Thruxton 400.

This new model will be powered by the new 398 cc liquid-cooled engine. The semi-faired design of the new model draws inspiration from the Speed Triple RR and is expected to be positioned between the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X, with a price tag of around Rs. 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Notable features will include dual-channel ABS, a circular LED headlamp, an LED tail lamp and sharp LED turn signals, a windscreen, a semi-digital instrument cluster, lower-set clip-on handlebars and USD forks.

The next-generation KTM 390 RC has already been seen testing abroad, but before its official debut, KTM is likely to introduce the new 390 Adventure to compete directly with the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. The 390 Adventure may be accompanied by the 390 Enduro, which has also been spotted in near-production form in India.

Both models will utilize the 399 cc liquid-cooled engine from the latest 390 Duke. We expect these motorcycles to make their global debut at the EICMA event in Milan later this year, with a launch in India likely to follow soon after. Over to the 450 cc category, Royal Enfield is developing a neo-retro roadster dubbed the Guerrilla 450 to directly take on the Triumph Speed 400 and it will be based on the Himalayan 450.
