This calendar year promises significant activity in the electric SUV space, with confirmed releases from manufacturers like Tata, Mahindra, Kia, and MG. These upcoming models are expected to showcase advanced technology and high-end features as well. Here is a detailed overview of all of them:

1. Tata Curvv EV:

In the coming months, Tata plans to launch the electric version of the Curvv. This midsize electric SUV coupe is said to offer a range of over 500 km per charge and will include DC fast charging as well as Vehicle-to-Load capability. Based on the Acti.ev platform, also utilized for the Punch EV, this five-seater will feature a 12.3-inch touchscreen, an all-digital cluster, ADAS, capacitive controls, a 360-degree camera, etc.

2. MG Cloud EV:

MG is preparing to introduce a five-seater electric crossover based on the Wuling Cloud EV by the end of this year. It combines practicality and spaciousness by being a CUV. This model is expected to utilize either the 37.9 kWh or 50.6 kWh battery pack found in the Cloud EV. The brand is also developing a mid-life update for the Gloster for this CY.

3. Mahindra XUV.e8:

Mahindra aims to launch the XUV.e8 by December 2024. If delayed, a potential market debut will happen in early 2025. Patent filings indicate features like a new two-spoke steering wheel and a triple-screen layout, aligning closely with the XUV700. The exterior design will closely resemble the concept, and the XUV.e8 is expected to offer a range exceeding 450 km on a single charge. Both single and twin electric motor setups are possibilities.

4. Kia EV9:

Kia plans to introduce the EV9 in India by late 2024 or early 2025 via CBU route, taking advantage of the homologation relaxations. Globally, this seven-seater SUV claims to have a driving range of 541 km in the WLTP cycle. It is available in both single- and dual-motor configurations worldwide and might be offered in a single fully-loaded trim in India.

Built on the E-GMP skateboard platform, the EV9 will feature a host of advanced features inside the cabin. Kia will also bring in the Syros compact SUV next year in both ICE and EV guises.
